Spring’s Sprites

September 20 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Celebrating this 35th year, Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand is delighted to bring some of Shakespeare’s most sprightly characters to life to help re-enliven the Wellington City Council’s Botanic Garden ki Paekākā, as it springs back into life after wintering over.

On Sunday 20 September, for an hour or so from 10am and again from 1pm, Pucks, fairies, friends and the odd Bottom will caress your ears with familiar quips and quotes from the Bard’s canon, as you hover to behold the rebirth of plants erupting into bloom.

For half an hour from 11.30am and 2.30pm, the characters combine at the Joy Fountain by the Glenmore Street entrance to present ‘exploded’ versions of their quotes into vignettes of his favourite plays. If you wish to participate, there will be a few roles with cue-scripts available to join the revels and explore the beauty of Shakespeare’s words and magic midst the fresh flowers springing forth.

But wait, there’s….a costume competition, with prizes, for the best Bottom and Puck, presented at the end of the performance. Fun for all!
