Following on from the success of Twelfth Night in 2016, Summer Shakespeare Tauranga brings you their second season in the Annual Outdoor Summer Shakespeare series at The Historic Village, Tauranga.
This season, the Summer Shakespeare brings you the much-loved comedy Much Ado About Nothing, directed by veteran Shakespearean actor, Pascal Tibbits. This year, the set will comprise the colonial-style buildings and cobbled streets of The Historic Village.
About the Play:
A group of soldiers return from the trenches. The world-weary Benedick and his friend Claudio find themselves reacquainted with Beatrice and Hero. As memories of conflict give way to a life of parties and masked balls, Claudio and Hero fall madly, deeply in love, while Benedick and Beatrice reignite their own altogether more combative courtship.
Shakespeare’s comic romance plays out amidst the high spirits of a post-war reunion, as youthful passions run riot, lovers are deceived, and happiness is threatened – before peace ultimately wins out.
Grandstand and street-level seating will be provided. All seating is general admission. Patrons are advised to bring jackets and/or blankets for warmth, as it can get a little chilly later in the evening. Street-level seats can be reserved for elderly or disabled persons. Please arrive early and advise the Front of House staff of your requirements.
Limited door sales will be available for most performances. Please check on the Facebook Page Summer Shakespeare Tauranga each day for notifications about ticket availability.
